TRADITIONAL PLANS

Interchange-Plus

Sometimes referred to as “pass through” or “cost plus”, interchange plus pricing is based on the percentage of the transaction that must be paid to both the issuing bank and the credit card association.
Because the processor has to pay this charge, they’ll pass it on to you. The “plus” is the amount over and above the interchange costs that you’ll also have to pay to your processor.
It’s their markup for processing your transaction, and it’s designed to cover their costs of doing business and generate profit. Rates offered vary based on the type of business and credit card volume.

Flat-Rate

Flat-rate pricing is a billing platform in which the merchant is charged one discount rate, regardless of the type or volume of card transactions.
Of all the billing platforms in the credit-card processing industry, flat-rate pricing is the easiest to understand. Square would be an example of this; they advertise at 2.6% and 10 cents per transaction.
Here at Tri-State Merchant Services, our flat-rate pricing is 2.4% and 8 cents per transaction. We include free equipment.
